Bayview One – whose name was inspired by the beautiful seaside location in Wellington Point, the doorstep of Brisbane’s Moreton Bay.

The Darren James Interiors team had a clear vision for the front elevation of the home – with a gable roof, clean lines, flat and matt finishes and plenty of texture. Some of the details from the house’s front facade is included in the back area too. When stepping out to the backyard, Darren James Interiors wanted to ensure our outdoor space was an extension of the home, so having good indoor-outdoor flow was high on our priority list. The doors open up to create a wide opening and seamless indoor-outdoor living. This space is perfect for any occasion and has become heavily used by the family and guests.
Being on a small lot block meant the location of the pool was key. It was placed along the back of the property to maximise the sun exposure during the length of the day. Painted brick walls along 2 sides of the pool created increased privacy.
Natural stone Teragio Anticated external tiles from Artedomus were used in a stack lay pattern for the pool area and alfresco. Darren James Interiors say “We also butt-joined this stone to create our squared pool coping edge. To give it a seamless look, we also set the glass pool fencing into the slab to ensure no visible mounting brackets.” The pool was offset to one side to create a small living area for the family to enjoy by the water’s edge. It has become a perfect space to relax while the kids are having fun in the pool.
Inside the home, the bathrooms feature Japanese mosaics and Italian tiles from Artedomus. “We worked with Artedomus for all our bathroom tiles as we love their high level of quality and stunning handcrafted designs.” says Darren James Interiors.
In the main bathroom the Fjord porcelain tiles were used on the floor and wrapped up the walls two tiles high. Darren James Interiors disguised the tile edges by double sheeting the walls so the tiles were able to be flush with the plasterboard.The beautiful natural stone look of Fjord porcelain porcelain works beautifully with INAX Yuki Border Japanese mosaic. It’s used from floor to ceiling on the shower bay, and up over the mirror cabinets.
“The fine detail of this small format tile is spectacular, and honestly gets better and better the closer you are!” says Darren James Interiors.
Yohen Border mosaics also by INAX were used in the kids bathroom where they were beautifully paired with a curved solid surface basin.
The ensuite was designed to be simplistic, calming and uncomplicated, whilst also private and ‘retreat like’. The large format Grigio Orsola acid-etched limestone floor tiles wrap up the wall to meet flush with the gorgeous 2×1 Inch Hanten mosaics also by INAX. Darren James Interiors opted for a long floating double vanity for the narrow space, which was created out of Grigio Orsola to seamlessly match the floor and wall tiles.
